This trip is a journey through the North Western Swedish Archipelagos at the top of the Gulf of Bothnia. The archipelagos are made up of over 800 islands. This number is growing due to glacial thrust as the land is rising by approximately 1cm per year. With the province of Luleå growing by over 200 hectares per year.
Our journey takes us through the Råneå archipelago into the Kalix archipelago and ends in the Haparanda Archipelago, starting in Luleå and finish at Båtskärsnäsin.
Our accommodation will be in a mixture of cabins and tents. With a hotel at the end. The cabins are well appointed and may have saunas.
The Gulf of Bothnia is fed by five major rivers and as there are no noticeable tides the water is brackish and so sweet. In the inner archipelago you will find fresh water fish for example perch and pike and as you get further out species such as herring.
This trip is run in conjunction with CreActive Adventure and we use Leave No Trace Ethics.
The trip will include transport from Luleå airport, food (excluding alcohol), kayak, paddles, safety equipment, camping gear (including a sleeping bag), your final night in a hotel and return transport to the airport. There will be two guides with you, one from 58°N and one from CreActive Adventure.
